Why Foster?

What Is Fostering?
Fostering is the act of providing a safe, stable and supportive home for babies, children or young people who cannot live with their birth families. Sometimes this is for a few days. Sometimes it’s for months or even years.
At Oakwood Fostering, we work closely with local authorities to carefully match children with foster careers who can offer love, care and consistency children need.
Fostering can be a temporary arrangement, but its impact is often lifelong. As a foster carer, you help children feel secure, valued and ready to grow.
All our foster parents receive:
Foster care provides a home for a child or young person when their own family cannot meet their needs. This might be due to illness, family breakdown, neglect, or any situation where the child’s safety and wellbeing are at risk.
Children in care live with foster parents, who are trained, supported and paid to care for them. Every fostering arrangement is different some children may need care for just a night or two and others may stay for months or years.
All our foster carers receive:
- A generous weekly allowance
- Comprehensive training and development
- A dedicated supervising social worker to support them every step of the way
- 24/7 support from our experienced local team
