The information we collect

• Checks such as DBS and references

We also keep information about children, so we can keep them safe, well, and supported.

Why we collect it

• Decide if you can become a foster carer

• Support and train you once you are fostering

• Match children with foster parents

• Work with other professionals to keep children safe

• Follow the law and meet our regulator’s requirements

Who we share it with

Sometimes we need to share your information with:

• Local authorities and social workers

• Ofsted (our regulator)

• Health, education, or other professionals involved with children

• DBS and other checking bodies

We will never sell your information.

How we keep it safe

We keep your information secure on our systems and in locked storage. Only people who need it can see it.

How long we keep it

We must keep records for a set time, even if you stop fostering. Usually, this is at least 10 years. Records about children are kept longer, as the law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you

• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong

• Ask us to delete information (if the law allows)

• Complain if you are unhappy with how we use your data
